Tiznit, the ancestral, Cherrifian city, capital of silver jewelry, so many names in this average city. A city at the crossroads, an essential bridge between the north and the south of Morocco, a obligatory passage or relay located on the national road n ° 1 which connects Tangier in the extreme north to Lagouira in the extreme south of the Kingdom,

From Tiznit, one can reach, Tafraout , Guelmim, and the beautiful Atlantic beaches located between Mirleft, Aglou and Tifnit as
well as the Souss-Massa National Park memorial. Located in the middle of the vast Azaghar plain, the town of Tiznit is formed around the water source currently known as Ain Zarqa or Ain Aqdim.

It has remained a strategic location and a center of rest and water and food supply for the commercial caravans coming from the Sahara or Iligh towards the port of Essaouira.

The failed Sultan Hassan I ordered the construction of the ramparts surrounding the city in 1882 to ward off the threat of European infiltration after numerous attempts to control the city of Sidi Ifni.

Tiznit is located 81 km south of Agadir and 14 km from Aglou beach. Following the upgrading of some secondary roads, it became easy to reach the beautiful beaches of the region. Atlantic and Souss Massa National Park (40 km north). Tiznit has been promoted to urban municipality since 1958.

The climate of the region is dry, semi-desert, with a strong oceanic influence. Most of the townspeople spoke only Amazigh - tachelhit - and could neither read nor write. They worked in subsistence farming and ranching especially goats, sheep and poultry. Average annual precipitation of 150-200 mm is insufficient for the growing needs of agriculture and drinking water. The average annual temperature is 25 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius in August and a minimum of 18 degrees Celsius in January.

From 1975, the city became the capital of the province with the same name. This administrative division has resulted in a constant increase in the population due to rural migration and the influx of new residents from different regions of Morocco to work as officials of the new administrative services, this which helped spread the Arabic language Darija, but in a very limited way for many years. Often, the indigenous population is content with their own language and learns little Arabic, especially in the countryside. Nevertheless, Tiznit has seen the emergence of several personalities, including Mohamed Al-Mokhtar Al-Soussi, Al -Hassan Ibn Al-Tayfour Rasmouki, Sheikh Maa Al-Ainain, Rais Al-Hajj Belaid, the great French poet and writer Mohamed Khair Eddine.

Since the beginning of this decade, many modern social and economic infrastructures have finally been constructed in the city

It is also a source of human, economic and social development. It is a support for the revival of the commercial and tourist sectors of the city. The local traditional craft sector has become a technical value whose influence extends outside the country. Many traditional crafts are practiced in the area, including silver jewelry making, pottery, rhetoric, and leather making. a capital of silver and annually hosts the 'Timizar ' Silver Festival, to encourage creativity and new innovations in the field of Silver Jewelry Making.

Traditional craftsmanship in Tiznit is one of the tributaries of the Amazigh heritage and the historical depth of Moroccan history, and for this it is mainly based on the moral evaluation, that is, the value formal and plastic of what it carries connotations and symbols in ornate colors and

exquisite shapes In recent times, silver jewelry making in Tiznit has seen a remarkable development, growing from an industry purely artisanal to an i Industry based on imported machines that allow the raw material to be processed and prepared into the required shape. And to work on the jewelry, the craftsman Tizniti adopted several methods, including:

Engraving and inlay.

Ivory engraving: This is a technique based on the engraving of a black substance on the surface of the jewel, and black color is added to it for shine.Glaze:

this glass material is used for decoration

Tiznit is a city where it is good to live, a city after all productive since it sheltered men and women of great culture. Everyone agrees to mention its great tourist and industrial assets , commercial and cultural. To exploit its strengths and move forward, it must continue to struggle to emerge definitively from the lethargy in which certain interests maintain it. do without its brave men and women who are part of our country's cultured elite.
